Alex Erickson earned it the hard way.
The receiver, undrafted in 2016 out of Wisconsin, has been potentially on the chopping block every preseason and every year proved extreme value to the Bengals. The team returned the favor on Saturday with a contract extension.
The two-year extension will keep him in Cincinnati through the 2020 season.
Erickson was in the final year of his three-year, rookie contract, making near the league minimum with a $633K cap hit.
