Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Mike Daniels is a step closer to returning to action.
The Bengals cleared Daniels to return to practice by designating him for return from injured reserve (IR), the team announced on Wednesday.
Wednesday starts a 21-day period in which Daniels can practice with the Bengals without counting against the 53-player active roster. The team can activate Daniels to the 53-man roster at any time during the 21-day period.
Daniels was placed on IR on Oct. 3 after he injured his elbow in practice.
The veteran defensive tackle has started in two games this season.
