Asante Samuel Jr., considered among the National Football League's top cornerbacks, will not play for the Los Angeles Chargers in Sunday's Week 13 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.
Samuel, a second-round pick of the Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft, remains in the league's concussion protocol after missing last week's 28-13 loss to the Broncos in Denver. In nine games this season, he has five passes defensed and two interceptions and has allowed 23 catches on 38 targets.
Chargers safety Alohi Gilman - who has missed the past two games - also was ruled out for Sunday's game with a quad injury.
