On Thursday night a crew of officials, led by head referee Carl Cheffers, gave a presentation to the entire Bengals team about all the rule changes for the 2018 season. It featured a lengthy video showing examples, including multiple of the new use of helmet rule.
Following the video, safeties Shawn Williams and George Iloka had their hands raised.
“All I can say is we asked a lot of questions and we left the meeting …” Iloka said, pausing before his teammate picked up the sentence.
“With more questions,” Williams said.
The rule implemented this offseason will give out 15-yard penalties for any player – offense or defense – lowering the helmet to initiate contact.
