Bengals sign Shaq Calhoun to practice squad a day after waiving him

Guard Shaq Calhoun has rejoined the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals signed Calhoun to their practice squad after he cleared waivers on Tuesday, the team announced. Cincinnati waived Calhoun on Monday afternoon. The Bengals’ decision to waive Calhoun on Monday was a little surprising considering the club used its top waiver priority to claim him.

Cincinnati claimed Calhoun off waivers on Sept. 6.

The second-year guard didn’t play in any of the team’s first three games. Calhoun is taking guard Keaton Sutherland’s spot on Cincinnati’s practice squad. Sutherland was promoted to the 53-man roster on Monday.

The Bengals have struggled at right guard since Xavier Su'a-Filo was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury in Week 1.
