The Enquirer confirmed through a league source that the Cincinnati Bengals signed 25-year-old free agent cornerback Bené Benwikere, who was most recently on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.
Benwikere began the 2016 season as a starting corner for the defending NFC Champion Carolina Panthers but was unexpectedly released after the first four games of the year, and the week after Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones caught 12 passes for 300 yards in a 48-33 Falcons victory over the Panthers.
A fifth-round pick out of San Jose St. in 2014, Benwikere started 14 times in his 27-game career, spanning three seasons.
