Bengals QB Andy Dalton has successful thumb surgery; will be ready for offseason practices

For the second time in three years, Andy Dalton has had successful thumb surgery.

Dalton hurt his thumb while trying to recover a bad snap last Sunday against the Browns and had to be taken out of the game entirely because of it. The Bengals were unsure what the extent of the injury was and had Dalton see a specialist shortly afterwards. It was soon learned that the injury would require Dalton to miss the rest of the season and surgery was a possibility.

That surgery had apparently already occurred earlier this week, and Dalton says it went well enough that he won’t miss any team activities in the offseason.
