The Enquirer confirmed Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert decided to have season-ending back surgery and that the procedure will keep him out of football for 4-to-6 months.
On Thursday the Bengals placed him on injured reserve, formally ending his 2017 season.
Eifert will not have the procedure done locally, but instead by Dr. Robert Watkins of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. The medical staff at the clinic partnered with six of the major sports franchises in and around L.A., including the Rams.
