The season is officially over for Chris Evans and D’Ante Smith.
On Monday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced they had placed Evans and Smith on injured reserve after both players suffered patellar injuries during a recent practice.
In addition, the Bengals waived defensive tackle Devonnsha Maxwell.
This is a brutal break for both Evans and Smith, who are in contract years after being selected by the Bengals on Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Instead of getting a shot to potentially earn a nice payday in the 2025 offseason, they’re both now looking at a one-year prove-it deal with very little, if any guaranteed money.
