A frustrating season for Cincinnati Bengals receiver John Ross III took a turn for the worse when the 2017 first-round draft pick injured himself during practice filling in at defensive back, according to a report Saturday from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
With cornerbacks Darius Phillips and LeShaun Sims unavailable for Sunday's game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh because of injuries and practice-squad DBs Winston Rose and Brian Allen unavailable because they were added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list, Garafolo reported that the Bengals asked Ross to try to play cornerback to help the depleted secondary. Ross obliged, but injured his foot on his second play.
