The Cincinnati Bengals have signed running back Samaje Perine to the practice squad and cut offensive tackle Dino Boyd from it.
Perine, a third-year player, had been waived from the team’s 53-player roster on Wednesday to make room for the addition of free agent defensive end Anthony Zettel. Perine originally joined the Bengals on Sept. 1 as a waiver acquisition from Washington. He had played in the first six games for Cincinnati this season and made four special teams tackles.
The Bengals now have just Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard and rookie Trayveon Williams at running back on the 53-man roster, so it makes sense to have another back on the practice squad in case one of those aforementioned guys gets hurt.
