Even though Sunday’s game is set for at 9:30 a.m. Sunday over the pond in the Bengals’ first- ever international game in London against Washington, they should be calling it the Carlo and Johnny’s Bowl.
That’s the Cincinnati restaurant just up the road a piece north of Paul Brown Stadium on Montgomery Road where Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther and Washington head coach Jay Gruden spent many nights commiserating about Double A Gap blitzes, zone reads, horses, and life in general.
They’re boys. There are almost as many pictures in Guenther’s office of Guenther and Gruden at the track (Saratoga, Churchill) than family shots.
