Darius Phillips personified taking advantage of an opportunity in his second season as a pro. Despite playing in 108 of a possible 1,070 defensive snaps last season, Phillips led the Cincinnati Bengals with four interceptions. He’ll likely see a major uptick in snaps this year.
“Me going out there and having the big finish to the season definitely brings me to this upcoming season with my confidence,” Phillips said.
The Bengals need a cornerback burgeoning in confidence to fill the spot vacated by free-agent acquisition CB Trae Waynes. Waynes sustained a pectoral injury early on in training camp and is on injured reserve.
