CINCINNATI -- About two months after the Cincinnati Bengals inked running back Giovani Bernard to a three-year extension, they locked up another back after Ryan Hewitt agreed to his own three-year extension Tuesday.
With Hewitt under contract through 2019, the Bengals have taken care of their run-blocking concerns for the long term. Hewitt mostly lined up last season just off the offensive line as an extra tight end or blocker from the H-back position, but he might be at his most valuable when he's at fullback. A downhill run-blocker positioned in front of Jeremy Hill and occasionally Bernard, he's had great success opening holes at the line of scrimmage for the runners.
