The Cincinnati Bengals have made the playoffs each of the last four seasons, but have lost their first game each time. Fans are getting feed up with the postseason losing, and think it's time for Andy Dalton to win his first preseason game. The supporting cast appears to be there. Here are four things to watch out for this week in training camp.
Can Russell Bodine Fix His Snap Issues?
Second-year center Russell Bodine has struggled with snaps this training camp. Dalton is starting to get fed up with his issues. If Bodine can't figure it out, the Bengals might have to turn elsewhere. That might mean starting guard Kevin Zeitler has to shift over, opening up a hole at guard.
Will AJ McCarron Finally Stay Healthy?
It "sounds like" McCarron will finally get his first NFL playing time in the Bengals' second preseason game. McCarron was out until December of last season and missed the preseason opener with a rib injury. If McCarron ever wants the Bengals to trust him as a backup, he needs to stay healthy and get some game experience.
Can Marvin Jones Take Over As No. 2 WR?
Jones missed all of last season, after showing promise in 2013. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson says Jones is starting to look like his old self. If Jones can play like he did in 2013, it would be a big boost for the Bengals' offense. Some of Andy Dalton's best games came when he and Jones were together. A healthy Jones could also take some pressure off A.J. Green.
Is This Dre Kirkpatrick's Breakout Season?
After struggling through his first few seasons, Kirkpatrick showed flashes of why he was a first round pick late last season. With Terence Newman in Minnesota, Kirkpatrick has a chance to take the next step and become a full-time starter. He's played well so far in the preseason and needs to keep that up.
