The Cincinnati Bengals announced that they re-signed WR Brandon Tate Friday. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.
Tate has been with the team since the 2011 season. He's served mostly as the team's punt returner. He returned 27 punts for 171 yards last year, his fewest yards as Bengal.
Tate rarely plays WR for the team, and caught just two passes last year. One of those did go for a touchdown.
The Bengals resigned Tate before fellow WRs Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu. Both of those players will command a much higher salary and could leave in free agency.
In his career, Tate has caught 57 passes for 901 yards and 6 TDs. He's also returned one punt for a TD, which came back in 2011. He spent the first two years of his career with the New England Patriots.
