With the 164th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected A.J. McCarron out of Alabama.
Position: Quarterback
Measurables: 6’3”, 220 lbs, 31 ½” arm length, 10” hands
McCarron was a consummate winner at the collegiate level, leading the Alabama Crimson Tide to back-to-back BCS National Championships in 2011 and 2012. McCarron kept it rolling in 2013, going 226-for-336 for 3,083 yards, 28 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He finished with a 36-4 record as a starter for the Tide.
A.J. McCarron may be the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft in regard to having experience running a pro-style offense. He has solid field vision and is able to complete plays both in the pocket and on the move with efficiency. McCarron may not project to be a superstar, but may slot in perfectly as a game-manager with his advanced decision-making skills.
