The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team gutted out a 72-65 win in the WNIT on Sunday afternoon against a formidable Minnesota Golden Gophers club.
Minnesota looked like a Big Ten team: they were big, athletic and physical.
The Gophers held a seven-point advantage at the break, 36-29, having dominated the second quarter after trading baskets with Cincinnati in the first.
The Bearcats, who improved to 23-10 with the win, returned from the break ready to execute their offense, which had been sluggish for much of the first half.
Cincinnati took control of the boards in the second half, posting a 46-32 advantage for the game.
