It was one of the toughest football position battles in recent memory at the University of Cincinnati.
In 2017, the Bearcats returned senior running back Mike Boone, who finished his college career with the eighth most rushing yards in program history. There was Michael Warren II, a highly touted freshman who wound up having an even better college career than Boone.
And then there was Gerrid Doaks, a redshirt freshman who had spent the previous year playing on UC’s scout team.
Heading into the preseason, Boone had already proven he could be UC’s leading running back.
