According to a source, the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team is “very close” to hiring a new head coach.
In the six days after firing head coach John Brannen, the Bearcats coaching search has progressed quickly.
Mick Cronin left UC on April 9, 2019, and the Bearcats hired Brannen on April 14, 2019. Two years later, UC’s coaching search is working on a similar timeline.
The Bearcats began conducting interviews on Friday, including an interview with former UC forward and current West Virginia assistant coach Erik Martin. Since then, UNC Greensboro head coach Wes Miller, Cleveland State head coach Dennis Gates, Ohio State assistant coach Ryan Pedon and Ohio head coach Jeff Boals have been discussed as popular candidates.
