The life of a place-kicker is tough.
Physically, they aren't asked to do as much as the other players during day-to-day practices.
Their names usually aren't widely known, and if they are, it's because they had a game-winning kick or an absolutely deflating one.
Nonetheless, they are still asked to deliver in some of the most pressure-packed and stress-filled moments.
University of Cincinnati football coach Luke Fickell hasn't needed his kicker much this season. The undefeated No. 7 Bearcats (8-0, 6-0 American Athletic Conference) have been so dominant offensively and so efficient in the red zone that the fourth-year Cincinnati coach hasn't needed to call upon Cole Smith much outside of extra points.
