Lest anyone think otherwise, Kevin Johnson and the Cincinnati Bearcats expect a terrific basketball battle with Connecticut on Saturday (4 p.m.) at sold-out Fifth Third Arena.
The No. 14-ranked Bearcats (20-2, 9-0 American Athletic Conference) ride a 13-game winning streak, while UConn (10-11, 5-4 AAC) is having a down year. That makes no difference to senior guard Johnson (Summit Country Day), who has been through enough UConn games to know the drill.
“It’s UConn versus Cincinnati,” Johnson said Friday, before UC worked out in its practice gym. “Regardless of either of our records or rankings, it will be a great game.
