UC's Cumberland, Broome and Cronin talk of toppling Tulane Scott Springer, sspringer@enquirer.com
The long holiday break didn’t affect the shooting of the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball squad Wednesday night as the Bearcats blasted Tulane in their American Athletic Conference opener 93-61.
UC’s last game came on Dec. 22, but they blistered the nets going 9-for-15 on 3-pointers in the first half. Jarron Cumberland led UC with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus Justin Jenifer had a career-high 18 points in front of a crowd of 10,689 at Fifth Third Arena. Cane Broome had his best game since scoring 21 against George Mason in the Emerald Coast Classic in late November with 17 points in a starting role.
