With many of their Cincinnati sports compatriots suffering through tough times, the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team just finished one of the best regular seasons in program history.
No. 18-ranked UC (27-4, 16-2 American Athletic Conference) routed UConn 67-47 on the Huskies’ Gampel Pavilion floor Sunday, and tied the record for most victories in the 11-year Bearcats tenure of coach Mick Cronin. The 2013-14 Bearcats finished 27-7, losing to Harvard in their opening NCAA Tournament game.
UC has been a shining light after disappointing seasons for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, not to mention the UC football program.
