HOUSTON – Houston won the battle of the only two ranked teams in the American Athletic Conference Sunday as the 12th-ranked Cougars handed the University of Cincinnati their first loss in a month 65-58.
Redshirt sophomore DeJon Jarreau had scored just two points in the first half, but was deadly in the second with 14 points. Late in the game he had made seven of his last eight shots. Corey Davis Jr. added 16 as well for the Cougars who went to 23-1 (10-1 AAC) with the win.
Cincinnati was led by Jarron Cumberland who had a difficult beginning, but as is often the case, a strong finish with 27 points.
