GREENVILLE, NC - The 14th meeting between the University of Cincinnati and East Carolina did not go the way the others have as the Bearcats fell short 73-71 Saturday afternoon at Minges Coliseum for the team's first American Athletic Conference loss.
Down 73-71 and trailing much of the game, UC’s defense got a five-second call on ECU on the baseline with a little over six seconds left. Jarron Cumberland got the ball and drove, but couldn’t make the shot and a foul was not called. Mick Cronin stormed the floor at the end to no avail.
KJ Davis had 17 points for ECU and Shawn Williams 16, many from the arc where ECU was 9-for-22.
