Before the season started, University of Cincinnati head coach John Brannen said senior center Chris Vogt could be the answer this year when the Bearcats needed a score late in a close game.
Brannen knows Vogt better than any other player on UC’s roster, having coached him for two seasons at Northern Kentucky and a third season in Cincinnati. But even Brannen had never seen Vogt take over in crunch time of a college basketball game as a primary scoring threat.
At least until Wednesday’s season opener, when Vogt saved the game for the Bearcats in a 64-58 UC win.
