It was a big-time college basketball atmosphere Saturday, when the No. 18-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats beat Tulsa 80-60 at Fifth Third Arena.
A sellout crowd of 13,386 jammed the house to watch UC coach Mick Cronin score his 300th career coaching victory. That includes 69 wins in three years at Murray State and 231 in 11 years at UC. Bearcats players talked afterward about Cronin shooting for 300 more.
The Bearcats continue to play stout defense and have the best offensive team in Cronin’s UC tenure. A deep NCAA Tournament seems possible, but first UC (24-3, 13-1 American Athletic Conference) must play its last four regular-season games and the conference tournament.
