The Cincinnati Bearcats have transformed the last four seasons. They’ve gone from basement dwellers to 11-win bowl champions. The defense has been reshaped the most dramatically. One player on that defense who has embodied transformation has been Tyrell Gilbert. During his time in Cincinnati, he has been asked to play safety, linebacker and corner back and he’s done each job successfully.
A member of the recruiting class for the 2014 season, Gilbert earned a three-star designation as a hometown prospect. The Cincinnati-native redshirted in that 2014 campaign, but he got to witness a nine-win season up close and personal.
