HOUSTON - With 6:11 remaining in Sunday afternoon's American Athletic Conference showpiece match-up, Jarron Cumberland's fourth trey of the game gave the University of Cincinnati a 58-57 lead over Houston. The Bearcats would not score again as the Cougars held on at the Fertitta Center behind 14 second-half points by DeJon Jarreau to defeat UC 65-58.
Jarreau came in averaging 7.8 per game and had just two points at the half. He also pulled down eight rebounds, second to the dozen 6-3 guard Armoni Brooks hauled down as Houston outrebounded the Bearcats 42-36.
