The key in March is to survive and advance, and the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team did just that on Friday.
Jeremiah Davenport scored a team-high 19 points, including five made 3-pointers, and fifth-seeded Cincinnati withstood a late SMU rally to defeat the fourth-seeded Mustangs, 74-71, in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference tournament in Fort Worth, Texas.
"We've got a mission," Davenport said. "As soon as we go back to the hotel, the coaches are going to give us the scouting report and do what we gotta do for tomorrow and so on. We just gotta keep a focus, head on and just keep doing what we're doing.
