In the end, it was sunshine, beaches and blowouts for the University of Cincinnati basketball team.
The No. 12-ranked Bearcats (6-0) pummeled Wyoming 78-53 to win the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic on Wednesday night, at John Gray Gymnasium on Grand Cayman.
UC escaped Buffalo 73-67 on Monday and blitzed Richmond 75-48 on Tuesday, then dispatched previously unbeaten Wyoming. Senior forward Gary Clark was named tournament MVP after leading UC with 17 points Wednesday, including the Bearcats' first 13 points of the game. Junior wing Jacob Evans also made the all-tournament team.
UC coach Mick Cronin especially was pleased with the Bearcats' defense.
