The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball game at Temple on Thursday started with something that had never happened before. Making his first career start, sophomore walk-on Rob Banks took the first shot of his career in the first 20 seconds of the Bearcats’ first game in 25 days.
It was an unusual opening that fit the 2020-21 college basketball season.
Even though UC wasn’t at full strength and had hardly practiced entering the game, the Bearcats took a 63-60 win over Temple in the last minute. Sophomore guard Jeremiah Davenport and senior forward Keith Williams converted clutch layups at the end to lead the team to its second conference win of the season.
