A Sandy Koufax fan's 8 1/2-foot-tall, 1,500-pound bronze statue that he sculpted and placed in his front yard is the subject of a bostonglobe.com feature by Stan Grossfeld.
Koufax, a Brooklyn native who earned a basketball scholarship with the University of Cincinnati in 1953, pitched in 1954 for the Bearcats before going on to a Hall of Fame career for the Dodgers.
From Grossfeld:
Gaynor, 77, is an unusual artist. He was a lawyer who didn’t start sculpting until he retired eight years ago. He says he never took an art class in his life.
