Almost out of no where, whether or not universities should withhold Cost of Attendance money from players has become one of the most heated debates in college athletics. I guess that’s what offseasons are for, right?
Some call it “fining” players, UC head coach Tommy Tuberville calls it withholding a portion of stipends for players violating team or school rules. Regardless, most folks are taking a firm stand one way or the other.
I can see both sides.
On the one hand, withholding COA cash is like your parents not giving you your birthday money from Grandma because you pulled your sister’s hair that morning.
