University of Cincinnati Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced Monday that the university's request to the state of Ohio for an attendance variance for Saturday's American Athletic Conference championship football game was denied.
On Tuesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said he had no clue why.
"I'm working on that today," DeWine said. "I've got a call with UC's president, President (Neville) Pinto, and he and I are going to talk about it. I'm looking into it. I don't know what happened."
