MEMPHIS, Tennessee – On a day when former Memphis Tiger Landers Nolley II was ferociously booed, the University of Cincinnati turned the basketball over at an alarming rate, costing them a valuable American Athletic Conference victory. Memphis won in front of a boisterous blue crowd of 12,211 in improbable fashion, 76-73.
Viktor Lakhin made a turnaround banked 3-pointer with less than a second to cut the Memphis lead to 74-73, but Kendric Davis iced it with a pair of late free throws. UC coach Wes Miller wished Lakhin had been fouled which would have given them a chance to tie, but none was called.
