The Bearcats have still have never lost to USF at Fifth Third Arena, but certainly had their hands full Tuesday night before pulling away 82-74. The Bulls never led in the second half but did tie the game with a little over six minutes to play.
Thanks to a career-high 34 points from Jarron Cumberland (14-for-16 from the free throw line), UC was able to scratch out another American Athletic Conference win. UC’s free throw shooting (29-for-32) pulled them through despite USF’s 22-for-26 night from the charity stripe.
The Bulls outrebounded UC 27-23, but down the stretch UC was able to pull the ball away and get fortuitous free throws to prevail.
