The No. 19-ranked University of Cincinnati dismantled a good SMU basketball team Sunday night, as the Bearcats rolled to their seventh straight victory with surprising ease.
Junior guard Jacob Evans and senior forward Gary Clark each scored 18 points and UC whipped the Mustangs 76-56 in an important American Athletic Conference matchup at Northern Kentucky University's BB&T Arena, before a season-high home crowd of 9,109.
Important, because SMU (12-5, 2-2 AAC) recently has been one of the premier AAC programs. UC (14-2, 3-0 AAC) also has been a top AAC contender for years, and the Bearcats and Mustangs typically measure themselves against each other.
