Right after Cincinnati Bearcats sophomore tight end Josh Whyle made the best catch of his college career, head coach Luke Fickell approached him on the sideline.
Quarterback Desmond Ridder had just dropped back to pass on the 26-yard line, and Whyle streaked up the middle of the field. An Austin Peay defensive back pounded Whyle as he went to make the catch at the 2-yard line, but Whyle held onto the ball anyway.
After Whyle led the Bearcats into the red-zone, Fickell found Whyle on the sideline and said, “If that would have been last year, you would have been broke in half.
