The NCAA took a proverbial financial punch to the gut by canceling the pinnacle of March Madness; the road to the Final Four.
Spring sports followed suit along with spring football. While large schools can weather some monetary blow, no one can sustain it, particularly with institutions not as financially blessed.
As a result, some sports have hit the chopping block and some Greater Cincinnati athletes have felt the sting.
Recently, Bowling Green State cut its baseball program. The move left Will MacLean, a redshirt sophomore from Mason, minus a team. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound righty made seven appearances for the Falcons last season, winning two games and had four relief stints this season with the last being March 8.
