Former University of Cincinnati director of athletics Bob Goin passed away Saturday, a UC spokesperson confirmed.
Goin led UC athletics for eight years (1997-2005), notably guiding the Bearcats into membership in the Big East Conference and overseeing fundraising/construction of the Richard E. Lindner Varsity Village, a $100-plus million enhancement of athletics facilities.
Before his time at UC, Goin spent 13 years at FSU, the last four as athletic director, where he was key in the Seminoles' move to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
He also worked in athletic departments at the California University of Pennsylvania (1979–81), West Virginia (1976-79) and his alma mater Bethany College (1970-76).
