Former University of Cincinnati men's basketball guard Jarron Cumberland came one step closer to playing in the NBA on Monday.
Cumberland, who was the 2019 All-American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was selected by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers with the 12th overall pick of the three-round 2020 NBA G League Draft.
The Vipers are the G League affiliate of the NBA's Houston Rockets.
"For him to be the 12th pick in the first round speaks to their belief in him and the opportunity that he'll have," second-year UC Head Coach John Brannen told The Enquirer.
