MEMPHIS – After the Cincinnati Bearcats opened conference play with mixed results in two games that trended toward lopsided at times, UC lost to the Memphis Tigers in its first tight affair of the American Athletic Conference season.
After Memphis led UC by a game-high 10 points in the first half Sunday, the matinee at FedExForum evolved into a tight, emotional and back-and-forth game in which the Bearcats held late, narrow leads on multiple occasions. That included an 80-79 lead with one minute to go.
Memphis senior guard Tyler Harris responded to the Tigers' late deficit with what proved to be the game-winning jumper with 40 seconds to play, though.
