Now that Cincinnati Bearcats football coach Luke Fickell has a new contract, one of his top assistants also has a new deal.
A source close to the negotiations confirmed Monday night that Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman has agreed to a new two-year contract that will pay the 34-year-old assistant $600,000 in the first year.
The contract was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
The new deal is a $75,000 privately-funded raise for Freeman, who also coaches the linebackers for UC.
The contract comes a couple of weeks after the university announced an extension for Fickell that keeps him at the helm of the Bearcats football program through 2026.
