Cincinnati basketball coach John Brannen talks Jay Sorolla's departure Cincinnati Enquirer
WICHITA, Kansas – Jarron Cumberland turned down a chance to praise his own play.
Instead, after the Cincinnati basketball senior scored 24 points and made the game-winning play in Thursday's 80-79 victory at Wichita State, he casually described his function in a Bearcats' offense hitting full stride in February.
"I wouldn’t say it’s my best ball," Cumberland said. "It’s just the shots that I’m getting off the pick-and-rolls and off screens. It’s just what the defense gives me."
After five straight American Athletic Conference victories, the Bearcats (15-7, 8-2) have moved to the top of the league standings and are in position to make the NCAA Tournament.
