Cincinnati Bearcats safety Darrick Forrest and cornerback Ahmad Gardner have been named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, presented annually to the most outstanding defensive player in college football.
The Maxwell Football Club on Monday announced the preseason watch list for the award, which is named in honor of College Football and Pro Football Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik.
Forrest, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior from Columbus, was a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection last season after compiling 106 total tackles and three interceptions in 14 starts.
"Darrick will be a captain (this season) and is one of the hardest working guys on the team," Cincinnati head football coach Luke Fickell told The Enquirer.
