University of Cincinnati tight end and former La Salle High School standout Josh Whyle has been named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football.
Whyle, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound junior, led the Bearcats with 353 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season en route to earning second-team All-American Athletic Conference honors and third-team All-America accolades from Pro Football Focus.
Whyle's 28 catches in 2020 were a career high.
Whyle entered last season with two career catches for 51 yards. He surpassed that in the 2020 season-opener against Austin Peay, totaling three receptions for 61 yards and notching his first career score in a 55-20 win over the Governors.
