PASADENA, Calif. - The biggest win of the brief Luke Fickell coaching tenure occurred here Saturday night, as the underdog University of Cincinnati stunned UCLA 26-17 at the Rose Bowl.
UC entered as a 14.5-point underdog in the season opener, after going 4-8 in each of the last two years. UCLA was playing its first game under new, high-profile Chip Kelly, a former head coach at Oregon and in the NFL (Eagles, 49ers).
UC sophomore running back Michael Warren II scored his third touchdown of the game, on 4th-and-goal at the 1-yard line with 1:44 left to push UC to a 26-17 lead.
