The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team could have returned to the middle of the American Athletic Conference standings on Sunday.
Even after the Bearcats suffered a five-game losing streak during December and January and fell to last place in the AAC, UC beat SMU on the road on Thursday and the Bearcats could have been back in the conference picture with a win against Wichita State.
Instead, UC again played like the team that lost five straight games and went scoreless for a six-minute stretch in the second half. The Bearcats lost on the road to the Shockers, 82-76, and Wichita State broke a six-game losing streak against UC.
